American Contemporary Theater in France – ACTiF
Why has the impact of American theater on French stages remained limited, despite the US’s booming performing arts industry and leading soft power in other fields? ACTiF is an action-research project which aims to investigate this unexplored paradox, thus filling a gap in performance studies and international cultural policy studies, and building bridges between ongoing research on French and US theaters.
Amino Acid Asymmetry – AAAs
Proteins and nucleic acids are functional biopolymers composed of L-amino acids and D ribose subunits that break chiral symmetry. The origin of the symmetry-breaking event is unknown. The AAAs project proposes to characterize chiroptical properties of chiral amino acids and their volatile aldehyde precursor molecules for the first time in the gas phase, where the initial asymmetric interactions between chiral photons and life’s molecular subunit precursors are assumed to occur.
An Integrated Test of Climate Hypotheses: Paleoclimate Cycles and Plankton Evolution in the Pleistocene equatorial Indian Ocean – ITCH
far-reaching impacts on global climate patterns. In 2021, the SCRATCH cruise onboard the research vessel
An antimicrobial origin of organelle targeting peptides – ChloroMitoRAMP
The vast majority of the proteome of bioenergetic organelles (chloroplasts and mitochondria) is imported into the organelle from the cytosol. This import is based on targeting peptides (oTP) located at the N-terminus of imported proteins, allowing their translocation through the envelope of organelles. The origin of these organelle targeting sequences and of the import machine that assist their translocation remains enigmatic.
An inter- and transdisciplinary project to study collaborations in sustainability science – COLLAB2
Although the growth of collaborations is a major current trend in the life sciences, little is known about how they influence the working practices of researchers and their partners. <br />COLLAB² aims to provide a broad and in-depth view of these collaborations, based on a study of three structures where they play a major role: «zones ateliers« (ZA), human-environment observatories (OHM) and biosphere reserves (BR).

Analysis and Separation of Complex signals: Exploiting the Time-frequency structure – ASCETE
In this project, our goal is to develop new reassignment techniques robust to noise and that applies in circumstances where the signal exhibits complex time-frequency patterns, such as interference. Meanwhile, neural network and deep learning approaches will also be investigated, to extract meaningful information from time-frequency representations.
Analysis of SNARE-mediated regulation of plasma cell biology – PC-SEC
Plasma cells and the antibodies they secrete are essential for protective immune responses. However, they can also contribute to the pathology of numerous diseases. Despite their relevance in health and disease, the mechanisms underlying antibody secretion are still poorly understood. This is an essential question as a better characterization of the involved molecular actors may pave the way to improved antibody production, and to the development of new therapies for antibody-driven diseases.
