PHOtoresponsive Nonlinear Optical Monolayers – PHONOM
Design of thin films with switchable second harmonic generation optical properties
Polarized super-resolution imaging for live conformational imaging – 3DPolariSR
Development of a microscopy module and associated fluorescent labels for the detection of conformational changes of proteins involved in cell adhesion by single molecule orientation and localization microscopy (SMOLM).
Emergent communication through curiosity-driven multi-agent reinforcement learning – ECOCURL
The ECOCURL project proposes to leverage recent contributions in Multi-Agent Reinforcement Learning to study how compositional communication systems can emerge in artificial agent populations and support the open-ended discovery of increasingly complex cooperative strategies. The results of the project will be eventually demonstrated in a rich 3D environment and disseminated in the scientific community and high-visibility outreach events.
Molecular mechanism of a new cardiac syndrome associated with an enhancer deletion – LEARN
In a first family, we identified 53 members of whom 17 present a syndromic cardiac disorder characterized by electrical disorders and developmental defects following an autosomal dominant model. Among the affected family members, 6 are implanted with a pacemaker and one experienced a sudden death at 43yo. Interestingly, 6 additional non-related families presenting the same phenotype have been also identified.
Origins of the specialization for reading in the occipitotemporal cortex – TOPLEX
Reading and writing constitute a major invention on which most modern culture is predicated. Understanding how the visual system adapts to the novel, culture-dependent task of identifying written words represents a formidable case study of brain plasticity, at the convergence of psychology, neuroscience, education, and cultural studies.
Liquid-phase 3D electron microscopy for materials science and biology – Liquid3DSTEM
The objective of the project is to establish the technique of electron microscopy in 3D mode and in liquid phase (3D liquid STEM) as a new modality of 3D microscopy. Liquid phase STEM allows the study of samples in a liquid. The establishment of the technique in 3D would open a new avenue for nanoscale characterization of samples from materials science and biology.
Longitudinal monitoring of Attitudes towards a VAccine against COVID-19. – SLAVACO
Our main objective is to monitor the French population’s attitudes toward a COVID-19 vaccinand their determinants (including socioeconomic status, attitudes toward science and health authorities but also vaccine-critical mobilisations), with a focus on their potential politicization. We assume that hostile attitudes toward this vaccine may reflect VH in specific groups of people, while in other groups, they may be rooted in anti-vaccination and/or conspiracy feelings.
How does Cell-to-Cell Communication regulate Fruit Growth ? – 3C-FruitGrowth
Cell division is a major process in plant growth and helps define the number of cells in a developing organ, thus influencing its final size. The mechanism that temporally and spatially controls cell division during growth is still unknown, but probably involves cell-to-cell communication, which is mediated by wall- and membrane-spanning channels called plasmodesmata (PDs), providing signal mobility.
The Promises of Soil Carbon Sequestration: Innovations, Organisations, Knowledge – POSCA
Aiming to balance greenhouse gas emissions and the sequestering capacities of non-atmospheric sinks, the Paris Agreement reached at the COP 21 in 2015 signals the new centrality of carbon sinks, including soils, as a key means of enabling climate stability. POSCA focuses on the rising promotion of soil as carbon sink in climate policies and how this is reconfiguring the way in which we come to know and manage soil.
Micro-SENSors based on metal oxide sensitive layers and Metal Organic Frameworks for AIR quality monitoring at low cost - 2020 – SensMOFAir-2020
New sensitive layers, smart MOF filters and advanced electronics: the triple strategy to overcome the low selectivity of MOS sensors.
