The ANR has teamed up with the ERA-NET ERA-CVD to launch a first joint transnational call for proposals for funding of innovative research projects in cardiovascular diseases, on Heart Failure.
Eighteen countries are participating in this call for proposals: Austria, Belgium - Flanders, Belgium - French-speaking community, Estonia, France, Germany, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Taiwan, The Netherlands, Turkey.
The aim of the call is to enable scientists in different countries to build an effective collaboration on common interdisciplinary research projects based on complementarities and sharing of expertise in the field of Heart Failure, with a clear translational research approach. Research should focus on the association between precipitating or causative factors (e.g. metabolic factors), and the molecular effectors and organ dysfunction in the development and progression of Heart Failure with reduced ejection fraction and Heart Failure with preserved ejection fraction. Research proposals should have a translational perspective, with potential impact on disease severity and outcome.
Transnational research proposals must cover at least one of the sub-topics proposed below, which are equal in relevance for this call:
Additionally, each proposal should consider, where appropriate, the following cross-sectional aspects:
Multi-disciplinary work and translational research proposals that combine basic and clinical approaches are encouraged. Consortia are also encouraged to demonstrate engagement with industry. Likewise, the participation of patient organizations will be considered as added value, where appropriate.
The following approaches are excluded from the scope of the call:
Only transnational projects will be funded. Each consortium submitting a proposal must involve a minimum of three (3) eligible partners and a maximum of five (5) eligible partners. Additionally, eligible partners must come from at least three (3) different countries participating in the call (see list above). No more than one partner from the same country participating in the call will be accepted per application.
Consortia including partners from countries that are to date underrepresented in this funding scheme (Estonia, Latvia, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia and Turkey) may increase the total number of partners to six (6).
One additional partner that secures his own funding may join consortia.
Taking into account the above mentioned rules a consortium can have a maximum of seven (7) partners.
Funding will be awarded for a maximum of three years. The ANR will fund only the French partners in the selected projects.
The specific annex for French partners is available on this site. The call text, proposal template, and guidelines for applicants are available on this site or on www.ERA-CVD.eu
Research project consortia who intend to submit a transnational proposal should register as soon as possible at https://secure.pt-dlr.de/ptoutline/app/users/login/JTC2016, by clicking on “to register” and following instructions.

The appelsprojetsrecherche.fr portal centralises all information on calls for proposals and calls for applications from ADEME, ANR, Inserm including ANRS, Anses and INCa. It provides a simplified access to upcoming and ongoing calls, giving a greater visibility to funding opportunities. Following their closing date, the calls remain published for a few months.
