Transnational call for proposals on Animal Health and Welfare through the ERA-NET ANIHWA

The ANR is associated to the ERA-NET ANIHWA to launch a first transnational call for funding research on animal health and welfare of farm animals, including fish and bees. This programme is a continuation of ERA-NET EMIDA.

Fifteen countries are participating to this call for proposals: Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Norway, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and United Kingdom.

Research Consortia are invited to submit pre-proposals related to the four (4) topics:

  1. Promoting research on the interface between animal health and welfare: development of practical animal-based indicators of animal health and welfare, development and implementation of new husbandry strategies ensuring good health and welfare.
  2. Development of knowledge, which may lead to tools for diagnosis and disease prevention, including vaccines
  3. Improvement of preparedness for emerging and exotic diseases (including vector-borne diseases and zoonoses) by epidemiological approach to risk identification.
  4. Antimicrobial and antihelmintic resistance, and development of alternative curative and preventive therapies, like biotherapeutics and other potential alternatives.

Please note that not all participating countries fund all topics – please refer to the call text for more detail. France will fund all four topics with no priorities.

Each project proposal (pre- and full proposal) must involve a minimum of three (3) and a maximum of ten (10) partners from at least three (3) and a maximum of eight (8) different participating countries. Consortium members from non-participating countries are welcome, but with own secured resources. Proposals tendered with support (financial or in kind) from industry, or other non-ANIHWA funding bodies are encouraged, provided that the total number of partners does not exceed 10.

Funding will be awarded for a maximum of three years. The ANR will fund only the French partners in the selected projects.
