Preannouncement of the 4th transnational call for proposals 2024 of the European Clean Energy Transition Partnership
The Clean Energy Transition Partnership (CETPartnership) is a transnational initiative for the joint programming of research, technological development, and innovation. Its goal is to accelerate the transition toward cleaner energy, building on existing national and regional funding mechanisms for research and innovation (such as national agencies, regional authorities, etc.).
The fourth CETP call for proposals is structured around 10 thematic call modules, each addressing a key aspect of the energy transition. These modules are derived from 7 Transition Initiatives (TRIs), which outline the main challenges to be addressed to successfully achieve a clean energy future.
For the 2025 CETP call, the French National Research Agency (ANR) will participate in 7 thematic call modules, including the following:
- CM2025-01 (TRI 1 & TRI 6) : Multi-vector interactions between the integrated energy system and industrial frameworks
- CM2025-02 (TRI 1 & TRI 2) : Energy system flexibility: renewables production, storage and system integration
- CM2025-03A (TRI 2) : Advanced renewable energy (RE) technologies for power production (ROA)
- CM2025-04 (TRI 3) : Carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS)
- CM2025-05 (TRI 3) : Hydrogen & renewable fuels. Concerning hydrogen production only green hydrogen production will be eligible for ANR.
- CM2025-06 (TRI 4) : Heating and cooling technologies. Only Applied research and development projects (achieving TRL 4, 5 or 6 after project completion) will be eligible for ANR.
- CM2025-09 (TRI 7) : Clean energy integration in the built environment
Although the 2025 joint call of the Clean Energy Transition Partnership (CETP) retains many similarities with the 2024 edition, we would like to highlight several important changes.
This year, the timeline has been advanced, with a Call launch event scheduled for May 28, 2025. During this event, applicants will have the opportunity to learn in detail about the call’s objectives, the themes to be addressed in 2025, as well as the participation requirements.
In previous editions, applications were submitted at the end of the autumn. In 2025, the new provisional timeline is as follows:
Stage 1 Opening - Pre-proposal submission: 11 June 2025
Stage 1 Closing - Deadline for pre-proposal submission: 09 October 2025 (2 p.m. CEST)
Stage 2 Opening - Full Proposal submission: 09 January 2026
Stage 2 Closing - Deadline for full proposal submission: 12 Mars 2026 (2 p.m. CET)
We strongly encourage interested parties to participate in the European event on May 28, 2025, which will provide a valuable opportunity to learn about the CETPartnership's strategic priorities for the upcoming year, the topics covered in the call, as well as the application process.
Additionally, if you are looking for project partners to form a consortium, networking tools will be presented during the event to facilitate the formation of relevant international consortia, in line with the requirements of the 2025 call.
