The Olympic and Paralympic Games will be held respectively from July 26th to August 11th and August 28th to September 8th, 2024 in Paris. In a context of evolving threats and risks, their security represents a major challenge for France. Research can contribute by bringing new technological capabilities from innovative solutions linked to specific and dedicated actions. The National Agency for Research (ANR) and the General Secretariat of Defense and National Security (SGDSN) launch a “Flash” call for projects whose objective is to develop the best technological solutions to meet the security challenges as produced by these events. They are also an opportunity for the security industry sector in terms of structuring, development of innovation and international outreach.
The projects, led by a consortium of at least one partner "public research organizations" and at least one "commercial company", will focus on the medium-term responses to one of the following five areas: alert and information to the people; alertness by the population; crowd movement management; management and control of itineraries (including Olympic lanes) and control and surveillance of reserved areas. The objective of the call for projects is to fund research of intermediate technological maturity level (projects beginning at TRL 3). The selected projects have to allow a rapid maturation: all the technological solutions deployed during the Olympic and Paralympic Games 2024 must have been challenged in real conditions during one of the major political or sports events that will be held in France before the Games.
The appelsprojetsrecherche.fr portal centralises all information on calls for proposals and calls for applications from ADEME, ANR, Inserm including ANRS, Anses and INCa. It provides a simplified access to upcoming and ongoing calls, giving a greater visibility to funding opportunities. Following their closing date, the calls remain published for a few months.
