EIG CONCERT-Japan Digital Transformations and Robotics in Sustainable Agriculture (DTRSA) - édition ANR 2025

European Interest Group (EIG) CONCERT-Japan is an international joint initiative to support and enhance science, technology and innovation (STI) cooperation between European countries and Japan. Formerly an ERA-NET program from 2011 to 2014, EIG CONCERT-Japan has been an independent collaboration since 2015. As a collaborative funding initiative of EIG CONCERT-Japan (the eleventh of CONCERT-Japan, the ninth as an EIG activity), the core members representing 14 countries have decided to implement a joint call for proposals titled of « Digital Transformations and Robotics in Digital Agriculture».

This call for proposals invites Japan and Europe-based researchers to submit proposals on digital technologies and robotics which will play a part in the sustainable agriculture sector of tomorrow. All research proposals should focus on digital technology or robotics with a clear demonstrated relevance to agricultural applications. Research should also demonstrate sufficient attention paid to sustainability considerations, including environmental impact and efficient resource use.

As a part of this theme, researchers are envisioned to explore areas of research including, but not limited to:

• Robotics for precision phenotyping in crop management
• IoT solutions for smart monitoring in livestock management with reduced waste
• UAV-supported systems for data-based sustainable land use
• Smart greenhouses with energy efficient humidity and light management
• Sensor probe networks for real-time soil monitoring

Participating countries: Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Poland, Slovakia, Spain, Turkey

• Each project consortium applying should consist of at least three (3) eligible beneficiaries (project partners), one (1) from Japan and two (2) from two different European countries participating in the Joint Call.
