ECOTECH - Sustainable Production and Environmental Technologies

The field of ecotechnologies covers new strategies aiming towards environmental efficiency in both production and consumption patterns as well as environmental technologies focusing on reducing pollution in natural environments (water, soil, coastal environment and air). The overall goal of  this programme is to foster the emergence and spread of innovative technologies and services by a research effort focused on the various types of barriers whether technological, organizational, regulatory, economic, or social.

The programme ECOTECH aims to favour innovative partnerships able to generate technological breakthroughs in the field of eco-technologies, particularly from information & communication technologies, nanotechnologies or biotechnologies.

The ECOTECH programme has been launched by the ANR in close coordination with the “ECO-INDUSTRIE” Call for Proposals co-funded by the DGCIS, the ADEME and OSEO. The ECO-INDUSTRIE Call is intended to fund pilot projects and demonstration phases whose time-line to market is relatively short (2-5 years). The ANR ECOTECH programme targets more academic research in the field of academic and industrial research.

ECOTECH's 2010 Call for Proposals is open to international consortiums and particularly to Sino-French consortiums within the framework agreement signed between ANR and the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) of the People's Republic of China.

Four of the 5 thematic priorities of the programme are open in the 2011 call proposals:

  • Theme 1: Paradigm change
  • Theme 3: Transform: developing secondary raw materials
  • Theme 4: React: improved clean-up of polluted environments
  • Theme 5: Monitor: more extensive and more accurate assessment of environmental quality
