Selected – 2023

Development of innovative strategies, tools, technologies, and methods for diagnostics and surveillance of antimicrobial resistance (DISTOMOS) - JPIAMR 2023

The French National Research Agency (ANR) is participating in an international call for projects launched by JPIAMR and by the ERA-NET JPIAMR-ACTION in the area of surveillance and diagnostics. The call involves 25 funding organizations from 19 countries. The total call budget is about 21 million euros. Proposals will be evaluated in two steps (pre-proposal/ full proposal).

While antibiotic resistance was responsible for 1.27 million deaths worldwide in 2019 (Murray et al., 2022), improving diagnostic and surveillance in the area of antimicrobial resistance is urgently needed.

This call aims to develop new strategies, new methods, and new tools (or to improve the existing ones) to support the surveillance and the diagnostics of bacterial and fungal infections (in humans, animals, plants, food or in the environment).

Through this call, the ERA-NET JPIAMR-ACTION intends to create and reinforce the collaboration between research partners coming from different countries and different fields of expertise to promote research on antibiotic resistance.  Consortia must include a minimum of 3 eligible partners asking for funding from 3 different countries participating in the call (Australia, Belgium, Canada, Estonia, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Lithuania, Moldova, the Netherlands, Poland, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom), including at least 2 European countries or associate. A development aid agency, SIDA, will support the researchers working in the least developed countries located in sub-Saharan Africa. The maximum number of partners allowed (including non- funded partners) is 6. The maximum number of partners can be increased to 7 if the consortium includes a company, or a partner coming from Lithuania, Moldovia, Poland or from one of the least developed countries, or if one partner is led by an early career researcher. Participation of end-users, stakeholders and companies is encouraged. ANR will only fund the eligible French partners of the selected projects (310 kEuros maximum for the project coordinator, 260 kEuros maximum for project partners and 470 kEuros maximum for the whole project). Selected projects will be initially funded for a period of up to three years. In agreement with ANR policy, funded researchers must respect the guidelines of the Nagoya protocol and consider open access publication of their results.

Interested researchers can consult the documents of the call for more information.
