The Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation opens the new call for label and renewal of Instituts Carnot. The deadline for applications is September 16th, 2019.
Created in 2006, the institut Carnot program is a label of excellence awarded by the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation to public research institutions in France who are committed to develop public-private research partnerships. It is intended to promote research carried out by public laboratories with socio-economic actors, in particular companies.
Based on the scientific and technological skills developed by public research, the instituts Carnot are active players to promote cross-fertilization between laboratories and companies in order to increase the economic impact of public research.
With a budget of € 62 million allocated by the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation to support the structures labeled "Institut Carnot" and increased by the Ministry of € 5 million in 2018, the label Carnot provides funding to encourage and support the development of contract activity in bilateral R & D projects, regardless of the size of the company or its sector of activity.
The ministry regularly evaluates the instituts Carnot and allows new laboratories to engage in this process.
This call for applications and renewal of label is a continuation of the previous program. It follows the main principles: flexibility of operation, professionalization of a sustainable relationship between public laboratories and socio-economic actors and scientific resourcing, indispensable vector of technological advance and competitiveness of companies. The call for proposals will be closed on September 16th, 2019.
