Call for international proposals in Computational Neuroscience – CRCNS 2026

ANR launches in collaboration with NSF, DOE and NIH (USA), BSF (Israel - pending) and NICT (Japan), a call for research and data sharing projects in computational neuroscience.

This call concerns an opening of the NSF program “Collaborative Research in Computational Neuroscience » (CRCNS) as detailed in the document “Solicitation 24-510” (see “Call announcement” below).

Through the CRCNS program, the participating funding organizations support collaborative activities that span a broad spectrum of computational neuroscience research, as appropriate to the missions and strategic objectives of each agency.

Two classes of proposals will be considered in response to this solicitation:

  • Research Proposals describing collaborative research projects, and
  • Data Sharing Proposals to support sharing of data and other resources.

Binational as well as multinational projects can be submitted. The consortium must comprise at least one French partner and one American partner and can additionally include Japanese and/or Israeli (to be confirmed) partners.

The proposals will be evaluated according to NSF evaluation procedures in association with ANR and the other partner agencies of the programme.

Each agency funds the partners in the respective country, according to its own national rules.

The document “Instructions for French participants” introduces the modalities of the opening of the program “Collaborative Research in Computational Neuroscience: Innovative Approaches to Science and Engineering Research on Brain Function” (CRCNS) to French-US projects. The instructions for French participants are complementary to the instructions of NSF “Solicitation 24-510”.

The document “Appendix for French participants” needs to be filled out by French participants and added to the NSF proposal. In parallel, French participants will also send this annex to ANR.
