GrounDwater sAlinizaTion and leaching AsseSsmEnt Tool: a holistic approach for coastal areas. – DATASET

The overall goal of DATASET is to propose a tool to protect and regulate coastal aquifers. This goal will be met by promoting the protection of groundwater which constitute a resource of fathomless value for the many anthropic activities and for the fragile environments present in coastal plains. The main aim of DATASET will be to develop and apply methods to create vulnerability maps throughout a holistic assessment of coastal aquifers coupling the evaluation of agriculputal leaching and salinization process phenomena in a single methodology to improve water governance aimed at early warning, prevention, and mitigation of groundwater quality degradation. The application of artificial intelligence algorithms, along with statistical methodologies will ensure model reliability.
