Anosov Dynamics – AnoDyn
The AnoDyn project (Anosov Dynamics) aims to bring together all French experts in the study of Anosov flows in dimension 3, but also to invite foreign experts in the field, as well as researchers in related fields.
This subject is central to both low-dimensional topology and dynamical systems.
Although it has been active for almost 40 years, spectacular progress has been made in recent years, leading to the resolution of important open questions: which 3-manifolds carry Anosov flows? is there a 3-manifold carrying an infinite number of non-orbitally equivalent Anosov flows? are any two Anosov flows always almost equivalent? is there an algorithm for deciding whether two Anosov (or pseudo-Anosov) flows are orbitally equivalent?
With the help of new or recently developed tools -- group actions on bi-foliated planes, Birkhoff sections, Markovian families, gluing of basic hyperbolic pieces, veering triangulations -- and by bringing together all the French and foreign experts on the subject -- and some related topics -- we believe we can make decisive advances in resolving these questions.
