Post-Quantum Modular Arithmetic Extension for RISC-V Architecture – MAERA

Submission summary

Classical asymmetric cryptography like RSA and ECC is not resistant to quantum computing. As a consequence, the NIST launched a contest for the standardisation of post-quantum cryptography in 2017. The NIST has selected candidates for standardisation: Crystals-Kyber and Dilithium. The aim of the contest is to standardize secure protocols against post quantum attacks. In this context, MAERA aims to anticipate the implementation of the PQC algorithms combining efficient execution performance and security requirements by extending the Risc V instruction set. These instruction set extensions could be candidates for standardisation of Post-Quantum cryptography on RISC-V platforms.
