Participatory residency for the analysis of game creation practices and the diversity of game mechanics – RESILUDIQUE
RÉSILUDIQUE is a participatory research project analyzing game creation and game selection practices. Given the industry's lack of recognition of certain game mechanics or systems, such as those developed in marginal or experimental movments - with Artgame as a paradigmatic case - the goal of this study is to set up a research protocol to (1) identify and categorize the blind spots in game development through experimental creations and the study of the stakeholders of the Artgame movement; (2) analyze the economic, social and cultural reasons for these blind spots found within the selection practices of the game industry and its specialists (publishers, distributors, designers, developers, etc.); and (3) provide an artistic and participatory exploration of unconventional forms of games through the development of collective creation frameworks like game jams and game residencies to promote a diversity of ludic practices and games.
