Super-reduced polyoxometalates: structural elucidation, solution behavior and coordination properties – POMEROL
Polyoxometalates (POMs) correspond to a class of compounds built from early transition-metals (V, Mo and W). Although not really understand, one of the most striking properties of POMs is their ability to exchange massively electrons, making them appealing components to design electrochemical energy-storage systems. During their reduction, POMs can lead to molecular entities in which electrons are located within metal-metal bonds. The main idea of the POMEROL is to develop the chemistry of these super-reduced species. The first objective is to shed light on the relationships between the POM structure and its electron-storage capacity. The second goal is to unravel the aqueous solution behavior of super-reduced. The last objective is focused to use the super-reduced POMs as precursors to develop novel molecular architectures.
