Chassis strain engineering for heterologous production of lipopeptides – HETEROCLIPS
Cyclic lipopeptides (CLiPs) are microbial secondary metabolites with a large structural biodiversity which gives them a multitude of biological activities that can be exploited in various sectors such as human and animal health (antibiotics, antivirals) or plant health (antibiotics, antifungals, defense inducers). They represent a source of active compounds that is still untapped for lack of knowledge on their mechanisms of action and on structure/function relationships. The objective of this project is to develop an innovative technology based on heterologous production and specific integrated production /purification processes to generate a collection of structurally diverse CLiPs. Different activities related to biocontrol will be tested, especially to meet the growing need for alternatives to pesticides.
