FLOWERS: Pushing the superacid boundaries – FLOWERS

Submission summary

FLOWERS is a fundamental research project aiming at exploring new synthetic perspectives by exploiting the superelectrophilic activation under superacidic conditions. In particular, in the context of a collaboration with our foreign partner (University of Freiburg Germany - Ingo Krossing), the scope of electrophilic and nucleophilic species compatible with this emergent activation mode will be extended. Based on fundamental studies, including in situ spectroscopic analysis, and on the exploitation of "innocent" solvents, new organic synthesis reactions having no equivalent in the current synthetic arsenal will be proposed. The final exploitation of these strategies in a late-stage modification approach of elaborated molecules will aim at demonstrating the strong synthetic potential of this strategy, with real perspectives in the academic and industrial domains.
