Analysis and conception of mediation situations in computer science unplugged – ASMODEE

Submission summary

The digital revolution raises many questions and needs for knowledge and concerns about what lies behind our modern systems. To answer these questions, an increasing dialogue between the scientific community and the rest of society is essential. Scientific mediation is a response to it. This project
aims to analyse the knowledge involved by mediation situations in computer science unplugged (MSCSU), as well as their modes of
transmission. Our study will follow a proven approach in the didactics of science, by articulating epistemological aspects with
didactical aspects. It will allow the elaboration of a conceptual framework, then a detailed map of MSCSUs. This first work will
motivate the construction of new MSCSUs, as well as the transposition of some of them into classroom situations. Our experiments,
carried out in mediation centers dedicated to CS (namely MMI and Terra Numerica), will concern both the general public and schoolchildren.
