Reverse logistics applied to the optimization of disassembly valuation after industrial disasters in urban areas – LIAD
In this interdisciplinary project, we investigate the disassembly and cleaning of sites after major industrial disasters in urban areas. Such topics are related to three main processes in reverse logistics: residues selection, treatment/reuse and elimination. Studies on reverse logistics raised in industrial cases for vehicles, household appliances, mobile phones and airplanes disassembly, and the reuse/recycling of useful consummation products like paper, glass and clothes. However, the goals, the constraints and the indicators evaluation of reverse logistics applied for industrial cases, as the aforementioned ones, are not adapted for post disaster management in urban areas. LIAD project focuses on evolving existing models and methods for reverse logistics in order to consider the special issues due to the crisis’s context. Such issues cover the particularities of reverse physical flows, new constraints and multiple objectives, which are in most cases conflicting. In addition, particular attention will be given to the valorization of residues. For instance, concrete or geomaterial structural elements (cobblestones, cut stone, ...) can be crushed and reused for the manufacture of recycled concrete, avoiding plaster; or embankment debris, and earth from earth buildings can be reused. Last but not least, industrial sites may be unique. As a consequence, the models and the methods developed in the LIAD project will be flexible in order to facilitate the integration of residues typology, new constraints and specific objectives, emerging from the crisis context.
