Water, Environment and Climate challenges in the Sahel – 3EC-Sahel
The application of Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA) and Université Abdou Moumouni in Niamey (UAM) for a collaborative project focuses on the set up of a new field of study : « Water, Climate and Environment » between the Institute of Environmental Geosciences and the Institute of Urban Planning and Alpine Geography at UGA on the one hand, and the Faculty of Science and Technology and the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at UAM on the other hand.
The aim of the project is to train professionals (economic actors and researchers) skilled in both technical fields (theoretical training combined with field expertise) and other subject areas (cross-cutting knowledge in economics, business, public health…), who might fruitfully participate in the decision-making processes in local issues as well as finding new employment opportunities in a society in which the population growth is very rapid. The cooperation between the two universities further focuses on supporting the improvement of UAM’s general governance and the management of the project funding.
