Smart Fluorinated macrocyclic chelates for theranostics and medical imaging in oncology – SMARTFLUOR

Submission summary

This project proposes a novel molecular architecture, based on trifluoroborate-functionnalized polyazamacrocycles, for the preparation of smart fluorinated tracers in theranostics and medical imaging. This single molecular design will tackle two important challenges in cancer research and in the clinic : the preparation of PET/alpha-Radiotherapy targeted tracers and the specific detection of tumoral hypoxia by MRI. The proposed ligands and complexes will be prepared thank to simple chemical syntheses, inspired by preliminary results obtained by the PI. The corresponding metallic complexes will then be studied by usual coordination chemistry physico-chemical methods, that are the expertise of the coordinator and the research group he is part of (Pr. R. Tripier group). Radiochemistry and Imaging will subsequently be carried out thank to the strong network developped by the PI. Finally, the bifunctionnal analogues will be prepared to consider the targeted applications in vivo, thank to the organic and macrocyclic chemistry tools developped in our group.
