Endoscopic real time optical quantitative elastography and angiography for in situ detection and diagnosis of colorectal lesions – EndoSenses
Gastrointestinal cancer is a major public health problem worldwide. In France, there are 40,500 new cases of colorectal cancer (CRC) every year, with an incidence of 36 per 100,000 in men and 25 per 100,000 in women. It is the third most common cancer in the world. Early detection in gastrointestinal tract is essential for cure, because prognosis and survival are related to the size and stage of malignant lesions. There is an unmet clinical need to provide doctors with a new method that streamlines minimally invasive treatment to single-operator procedures assisted by in situ and real-time accurate tissue characterization for informed treatment decisions. To meet this clinical need, we propose a non-contact multimodal optical endoscope system to help doctors during colorectal endoscopy by providing, simultaneously classical white light imaging and quantitative stiffness and blood flow information in real time.
