CE05 - Une énergie durable, propre, sûre et efficace

3D printing of lithium-ion batteries – IODA

Submission summary

Nowadays, lithium-ion batteries power most electronic devices. There is a growing demand for batteries with higher energy and power and for a perfect integration of such batteries into the devices that they power. Additive manufacturing, also known as 3D printing would allow not only to fabricate new multidimensional architectures of batteries (possessing better electrochemical performances) but also to built-in such batteries into the powered device. Following some rather promising early results obtained in the framework of the OBI-ONE regional research project, we aim, in the proposed project (IODA: Lithium-ion batteries 3D printing), to further develop composite filaments to print whole batteries perfectly integrated in the powered devices, and to create the very first three-dimensional (3D) battery prototypes.
