Hydrogen driven enantioselective assembly lines – H2-drive

Submission summary

The quest for new eco-compatible enantioselective paths requires the orthogonal catalytic activation of multiple building blocks. The solution to this challenge calls for the design of innovative multi-catalyzed processes that is the ambition of this proposal. The proposed strategy is based on hydrogen transfer-initiated reactions allowing access to complex enantioenriched structures of high synthetic value by an innovative OFF/ON assembly line. From an initial unactivated substrate (alcohol), metal-catalyzed dehydrogenation would provide the key activated carbonyl function triggering the subsequent enantioselective cascades. Final reaction by the hydrogen transfer catalyst would terminate the cascades affording the desired complex chiral structures.
