The MOMENTA project aims at improving the modeling and prediction of aero-elastic loads when a turbulent wind turbine wake is
impacting another wind turbine, to shorten the wind farm design process. To do so, the MOMENTA project proposes a first original
measure of the turbulent wake of a wind turbine, using a drone. These measured turbulent properties will then be reproduced at the
entrance of low Reynolds wind tunnels, at the rotor and blade scales (to isolate rotational effects), in order to evaluate its impact on
aerodynamic loads. Precise solvers (e.g.DES) will then be used to extend these results towards realistic Reynolds numbers.
Turbulent wake models and aerodynamic loads taking into account wind turbine turbulent wake effects will thus be available.
Results will be analyzed and implemented in aero-elastic solvers (e.g. BEM) to be used in the rotor design process.
