Secure digital Identity and automated fraud detection in B2B socIaL networks – SIBIL-Lab

Submission summary

The SIBIL-Lab LabCom project is a collaboration between the ALG (Attestation Légale) SME and the LIRIS research laboratory (UMR CNRS 5205), both located in Lyon.

ALG offers a solution for the management of commercial relations between customers and suppliers (B2B, i.e., Business-to-Business). ALG's solution enables the collection, digitization, archiving and dissemination of a company's legal file through a B2B social network platform. ALG has among its pioneering partners Eiffage Construction, Bouygues Immobilier, Nexity, OTV Veolia, Adecco, Ikea, Crédit Agricole, Fiducial, Colas, Hospices Civils de Lyon.

Designed to enable companies to exchange legal documents, the ALG platform has enables the deployment of innovative services based on the exchange of information between the network's partner companies. Among these, the protection against frauds has been identified as a priority for ALG and its customers.

In France, 93% of companies have been victims of fraud attempts in 2015, an increase of 20% compared to the previous year (DFCG, 2016). Most fraudsters try to impersonate the president of the company, the company's suppliers, the clients of the company, or other legal or natural persons (lawyers, etc.). However, 46% of companies do not have a dedicated solution to counter frauds. This is why the protection against frauds is now a priority for companies.

The originality of ALG's positioning is to provide to the partner companies of its platform, often competitors, a way to share, in a secure and confidential way, some of their financial data (ex: IBAN and contact details of suppliers) so that they are consolidated and analyzed, and that reliable information is disseminated within the network, thus countering fraud attempts.
Given the sensitivity of the data handled by ALG, issues of security, reliability (integrity, availability) and protection of sensitive information are top priorities.

In this perspective, SIBIL-Lab roadmap is focused on digital identity management and fraud detection in B2B social networks.

By enabling ALG to deploy a scalable and fraud-tolerant B2B platform, SIBIL-Lab will strongly strengthen ALG's position in its very competitive market. They will support ALG's strategy, which aims at developing disruptive services, addressing new lines of business, and conquering new international markets.

For the LIRIS lab, SIBIL-Lab will support the research on fraud detection and secure data sharing, both topics being important items of the research agenda of the lab.
