Chimie des valves de la coquille Saint-Jacques européenne, archives multiproxies de la dynamique phytoplanctonique – CHIVAS
Preliminary results of CHIVAS consortium highlighted the huge potential of Pecten maximus shells (bivalve mollusc) for high-resolution reconstruction of infra-seasonal variability of environmental conditions. Here, we propose to calibrate and use three proxies of primary production on continental margins. We will work simultaneously on barium and molybdenum concentrations and carbon isotope composition of calcitic shells of this bivalve. The simultaneous choice of (i) a pluridisciplinary approach, (ii) a species such as Pecten maximus, and (iii) a coastal study site easily reachable, allows this multiproxy approach and the use of this scallop as high-resolution archives of phytoplankton dynamics.
