The use of nitrogen fertilizers is costly, releases greenhouse gases, and pollutes water. To reduce the use of these fertilizers, which are essential for plant production and quality, it is envisaged to increase the performance of nitrogen recycling and organ-to-organ remobilization. In aging organs, a finely coordinated and regulated degradation is orchestrated by the targeted activity of autophagic machinery and proteases. The project studies their roles efficient nitrogen remobilization.

Biochemical and Structural characterization of MnmE/MnmG and GTPBP3/MTO1 protein complexes involved in redox modifications of bacterial and human tRNAs – MiGRATe
The aim of the project is to study the structure / function relationship of enzymatic complexes conserved throughout evolution (MnmE / MnmG in bacteria and GTPBP3 / MTO1 in humans) and involved in the 5-carboxyaminomethylation modification of tRNA wobble position that is necessary for the correct decoding of the genetic information. Indeed, the lack of modification leads to growth disorders in bacteria and severe pathologies in humans.

VARPEG is an integrated research program on Variscan granitic pegmatites coordinated at the French national scale . The classical model of granite derivation is re-evaluated and a new paradigm (anatectic origin) for the origin of these potential mineral resources is tested and elaborated. VARPEG comprises three main parts and includes fundamental conceptual aspects and others more practical allowing exploration operations to be optimized and pegmatite bodies to be targeted.

The capacity of plants to survive exposure to a variety of environmental stresses is of prime importance for food production, especially in the context of global warming. How climatic variations impact plant life cycles is therefore an urgent question to address in order to improve stress tolerance and adapt agriculture to future rises in temperature. This project aim to understand how plants regulate their response to heat stress.
Sulfate Reducing Bacteria: mechanisms of biomineralization and preservation of biosignatures of a key metabolism of Earth history – SRB
Microbial metabolisms such as bacterial sulfate reduction are involved in the formation of key minerals widespread in the rock record, and might have played a central role in the coupling of S, C and Fe biogeochemical cycles in Earth history. Elucidating their role in ancient environments requires the use of robust biosignatures of these metabolisms. We explore these mechanisms of biomineralization using interdisciplinary tools, with the aim of defining / refining such biosignatures.
