MEtal GlAsses functionalization by ultrashort Laser-Induced topology and phase Transition – MEGALIT
The objective of the MEGALIT project is to explore the potential for improving the surface functionalities of metallic glasses (MG) known for their exceptional mechanical properties (close to those of metal) and their surface quality (similar to that of glass), in order to replace existing complex solutions with a mono to multifunctional material coating approach.

Quantitative Optical Imaging for Liver Surgery – LiverSURG
Despite significant progress in medical imaging technologies, there currently exist no tools capable of objectively helping healthcare professionals during liver transplantation surgeries. Instead, surgeons still rely on their own senses to determine whether a transplant is healthy either before, during or after the procedure. In this project we propose to develop innovative solutions to allow quantitative multispectral optical imaging in real-time during liver transplant surgery.
Assessing seismic hazards in slowly deforming orogens. – SLOWDEF
Challenges and new methodology, from a field example: the Western Kunlun mountain range (Xinjiang, China).
Charge transfer control in small molecular architectures – CHACRA
The CHACRA project aims to fundamentally study charge transfer (CT) processes in molecular assemblies adsorbed on a silicon surface functionalized with an insulating layer. Our work on manipulating and electronically decoupling individual molecules enables us to use low-temperature (9 K) scanning tunneling microscopy to induce, analyze, and control CT in carefully selected molecular assemblies.
Heat transport in solids, beyond the classical approximation – HEATFLOW
The project aims at developing path integral calculations for the computation of heat conductovity in insulating solids, taking quantum effects into account automatically. First for crystals, then for amorphous systems or nanostructures.

Menage a trois: a third, feminising sex chromosome. Evolutionary consequences and relevance to mammalian sex determination genetics – SEXREV
Luckily, we have recently identified a mammalian exception to the XY rule. The species of African pygmy mouse [...] of gonadal sex. Mus minutoides is also an exceptional model to understand the evolutionary forces driving [...] neurobiology and molecular genetics), around an exceptional model (for which we are running the only breeding

Role of Doubly Uniparental Inheritance of mitochondria in maintaining reproductive isolation – DRIVE
Mito-nuclear genetic incompatibilities (MNI) have recently gained recognition as a cause of hybrid breakdown and reproductive isolation. These interactions have bearing on genetic divergence and speciation. The remarkable system of doubly uniparental inheritance (DUI) of bivalves allows investigating the role of MNI in maintaining reproductive isolation. Project DRIVE will investigate the implications of MNI in population of the Baltic tellin, a DUI species.
