demographics of planets close to their birth place & their occurrence in the disk and the bar of our Galaxy. – COLD-WORLDS
Cold Worlds uses the gravitational microlensing technique to explore a unique niche: cold planets with masses as small as the Earth orbiting all types of stars (even stellar remnants), old planets in large orbits, free planets (i.e. not bound to a star) and even exolunes orbiting extra-solar planets.
X-Ray tomography and multiscale analyses for the optimization of 3D woven reinforcements of composites – AMOC
simulation and 3D imaging techniques in materials science, particularly X-ray microtomography combined with [...] project is multidisciplinary since it concerns the science of fibrous materials, the mechanics of discrete
Witness Bodies. Towards a Political Sociology of the Treatment of Human Remains – CORTEM
A Political Sociology of the Government of Human Remains
Wealth Inequalities and the Dynamics of Housing Market.Interpreting real-estate market-based regime of spatial inequalities (WIsDHoM) – WIsDHoM
The project investigates how asset-based welfare policies, residential market volatility, stratified accumulation and vulnerability impinge upon the geography of inequality in property markets. Since the 1990s, housing prices have increased faster than the income of buyers, becoming a driver of social polarization and household vulnerability. We investigate the links between socio-spatial inequality, asset capitalization, instability and vulnerability in residential housing markets.
Water capture in stable composite materials for heat storage: Application to vehicle cabins heating – STOCK-CAR
specialized in materials, thermodynamics, heat science and process development.
Waste enery as a local resource : towards optimized heat recovery – RECUPERTE
Waste heat recovery represents so far an underused energy, likely to take a significant share of the energy mix at French and European levels. As a local resource, it is of main interest for territories engaged in energy transition policies, provided secure and planned development. The project will be run by a team of urbanists/geographers/environmental and energy scientists in the aim to analyse and optimize the use of industrial, urban and nuclear sources of heat.
Volcanic Halogens: from Deep Earth to Atmospheric Impacts – VOLC-HAL-CLIM
Volcanoes release vast amounts of gases and particles into the atmosphere including volcanic halogens. These undergo a multi-phase chemistry in the troposphere, resulting in ozone depletion, and can cause massive ozone-layer destruction in the stratosphere alongside major climate impacts. By combining our expertise across earth and atmospheric sciences this project will deliver a scientific framework to quantify volcanic halogens earth and atmospheric cycling and their impacts.
VolcaniC early awAREness (V-CARE): Development and testing of new indicators for anticipating the onset of volcanic eruptions: Application to risk management and psychosociological evaluation of social response to crisis alert. – V-CARE
earth sciences and from human and social sciences (namely geography, psychology, political sciences and [...] eruptive phenomenology. Recent advances in earth sciences open new avenues for identifying precursory timescales [...] tasks: • The first task is dedicated to earth sciences. It aims at understanding magma reservoir dynamics
Vibrational Circular Dichroism as a Probe of Non-Covalent Interactions – Dichroprobe
The Dichroprobe project aims at probing the conformation of flexible chiral molecules, in interaction with a solvent or in the solid, by vibrational circular dichroïsm spectroscopy (VCD). It will combine experiments and the development of unprecedented time-dependent methods resting on polarisable force fields or first-principles molecular dynamics (MD) simulations for the interpretation of VCD spectra.
