Assessing Resilience of DEep COrals – ARDECO
Like tropical coral reefs, cold-water coral (CWC) reefs form complex habitats providing important ecosystem services. But Cold Water Corals also have to cope with ocean warming and acidification, which could significantly reduce their fundamental niche if they are unable to adapt.
Assessments of vulnerability of mature and secondary forests to climatic water stress in Southeast Asia – CWSSEA
The overarching aim of this study is to estimate canopy transpiration and evaluate its variations with climatic conditions, such as atmospheric humidity and soil moisture in primary and secondary forests of Southeast Asia. This project also investigates species-specific responses to water stress by assessing tree hydraulics and stomatal conductance, which will provide a mechanistic understanding of the trees’ ability to conduct water from soil and uptake carbon from the atmosphere.
Astronomical solution for the Mesozoic Era – AstroMeso
The AstroMeso project aims to go beyond the horizon of predictability of 60 Ma for the Solar System, and to provide the basis of an astronomical solution over the whole Mesozoic. This will only be possible by using the geological record as an input, in order to constrain the orbital solution. This will open a new era where the geological record will actually be used to retrieve the orbital evolution of the solar system.
At the edges of kinship : origins and new family configurations – ORIGINES
What meaning should be given to the ties uniting people who, without being relatives in the legal sense, are connected by the circumstances of a procreative act? This multidisciplinary project (history, social anthropology, sociology and law) regards the links - real or fantasized - created by the relation to «origins« in the new family configurations (adoption, assisted reproduction, surrogacy).

Atlas of the Balkan Linguistic Area – ABLA
When contact-induced change and borrowing become systematic across a number of languages and persist over time, language clusters are found containing languages which, although not genetically related, have become more similar. The areas in which such languages are spoken are referred to as “Sprachbund,” “convergence area,” and “linguistic area” (Trubetzkoy, 1928). The most well-known linguistic area is the Balkans.

Atmospheric River Climatology in Antarctica – ARCA
ARCA aims to describe atmospheric rivers (AR) in the polar regions by applying detection algorithms for these events on historical, current and future climate simulations. ARCA will evaluate their impact on the Antarctic surface mass balance. ARCA will also analyze the extent to which moisture transported by ARs has a particular isotopic and chemical signature and assess whether these events can be traced in ice cores.
Attitudes towards vaccines and competence to consent to vaccination against COVID-19 in individuals with schizophrenia – SCHIZOVAC
Recent evidence suggests that individuals with schizophrenia are at high risk for severe COVID-19 and should be prioritized for vaccination. Several important barriers could negatively affect the uptake of a COVID-19 vaccine in this population, among them attitudes of individuals with schizophrenia towards vaccination and impaired decision-making capacities. However, competence to consent to vaccination and general attitudes towards vaccines remains unexplored in schizophrenia.
