Modulating the gene networks underlying phenotypic robustness in plant quantitative immunity – PRobIty
Quantitative disease resistance (QDR) is a form of plant immunity involving complex molecular bases poorly characterized. It is widespread in nature and the only form of effective immunity against necrotrophic pathogens such as the white mold fungus Sclerotinia sclerotiorum. Empirical studies highlighted that QDR is often broad spectrum and durable. The architecture of genetic networks underlying the robustness of the QDR phenotype is currently unknown.
Moduli spaces of Differentials: Flat surfaces and interactions – MoDiff
This project studies new problems of dynamics and geometry on moduli spaces of differentials (also viewed as flat surfaces), by exploring their interactions with combinatorics, enumerative geometry, complex geometry and hyperbolic geometry.

Molecular and evolutionary principles governing enzyme regioselectivity – dEEPEN
Prediction of enzyme function is a notoriously difficult problem with promising biotechnological impact. Here, we tackle this problem by studying both molecular mechanisms and evolutionary properties of a class of enzymes that are involved in the ubiquinone biosynthesis pathway. To that end, we propose an interdisciplinary approach consisting in confronting bioinformatics studies in evolution (comparative genomics), biophysical models of molecular dynamics and biochemical experiments.
Molecular mechanism of a new cardiac syndrome associated with an enhancer deletion – LEARN
In a first family, we identified 53 members of whom 17 present a syndromic cardiac disorder characterized by electrical disorders and developmental defects following an autosomal dominant model. Among the affected family members, 6 are implanted with a pacemaker and one experienced a sudden death at 43yo. Interestingly, 6 additional non-related families presenting the same phenotype have been also identified.
Molecular mechanism of transcription by influenza virus polymerase – FluTranscript
Influenza virus is a perennial threat to worldwide public health due to the morbidity and mortality that it causes, its ease of transmission and its unpredictable evolution. The influenza RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (FluPol) is the key virally encoded molecular machine that performs transcription and replication of the segmented negative-sense RNA genome. A detailed understanding of how FluPol preforms transcription can underpin the development of the next generation of anti-influenza drugs.

Morphogenesis, organization and functions of liquid viral factories formed by Mononegavirales – LiquidFact
Infection of the cell with the rabies and measles virus induces the formation of viral factories (VF) that house the synthesis of viral RNAs. VFs are liquid organelles formed by phase separation. We want to characterize the composition and organization of UVs; identify the molecular bases behind the phase separation; explore the link between UV, innate immunity and the cellular translation machinery; and understand how virions leave the UV.
