Optimization framework for desirable and sustainable complex systems – OSCAR
Optimization Method for affordable and sustainable systems
Genetic and Mechanical Control of Myoblast Fusion. – MyoFuse
Here, we will investigate the mechanisms whereby TGFß signaling exerts its inhibiting action on fusion and its possible interplay with cellular and environmental mechanical properties. In addition, we will determine whether mechanical constraints at the cell membrane and in the microenvironment mediate and/or synergize with cell-cell signaling to inhibit fusion in vertebrates.
An antimicrobial origin of organelle targeting peptides – ChloroMitoRAMP
The vast majority of the proteome of bioenergetic organelles (chloroplasts and mitochondria) is imported into the organelle from the cytosol. This import is based on targeting peptides (oTP) located at the N-terminus of imported proteins, allowing their translocation through the envelope of organelles. The origin of these organelle targeting sequences and of the import machine that assist their translocation remains enigmatic.
Control of vesicular flows by golgins – VesicleFiltering
The golgine GMAP-210 recognizes vesicles crossing the Golgi apparatus on the basis of their high curvature and lipid unsaturation level. Do other Golgines recognize other physicochemical properties of membranes? Does the role of GMAP-210 in immunological synapse formation also involve recognition of highly unsaturated membranes?
Secret Archives of the Basilica of Nicea provided by the Sediments of Iznik Lake – BASILIZNIK-SECRETS
SECRET ARCHIVES OF THE BASILICA OF NICEA PROVIDED BY THE SEDIMENTS OF LAKE IZNIK
An inter- and transdisciplinary project to study collaborations in sustainability science – COLLAB2
Although the growth of collaborations is a major current trend in the life sciences, little is known about how they influence the working practices of researchers and their partners.
COLLAB² aims to provide a broad and in-depth view of these collaborations, based on a study of three structures where they play a major role: «zones ateliers« (ZA), human-environment observatories (OHM) and biosphere reserves (BR).
Enantioselective Organocatalysis through Hydrogen Bond-Assisted Halogen (X) Bonding – Bond-X-Bond
Enantioselective organocatalysis has established itself as an essential tool in the modern chemists' toolbox. If the activation by Bronsted acid or bases and those by Lewis bases are well developed, this is much less the case for catalysis by Lewis acids. We therefore propose to develop new Lewis acid catalysts proceeding by halogen bond, in which an additional hydrogen bond will help control the enantioselectivity.
Phosphorus sequestration: contribution of magnetotactic bacteria in oxic–anoxic transition zones – PHOSTORE
The project stems from our recent demonstration that a group of magnetotactic bacteria strongly accumulate P at the oxic-anoxic interface in the water column of the ferruginous Lake Pavin (Massif Central, France; Rivas-Lamelo et al. 2017, Geochem. Persp. Lett.). These bacteria constitute a new and relevant model for studying the cycling of P by microorganisms in freshwater environments, the molecular mechanisms of P sequestration and their influence by environmental parameters.
IntpTN3, a unique RecA-independent homology-directed recombinase: mechanism, structure, partners and applications – IntpTN3
(1) Characterization of the enzymatic activity of homologous recombination in vitro of hybrid enzymes. (2) Isolation and characterization of potential protein partners of these enzymes. (3) Use of these enzymes in homologous intact DNA recognition assays. (4) Resolution of the three-dimensional structure of these enzymes.
Systematics UNcertainties in Combinations of neutrino Oscillation Results – SUNCORE
Neutrino oscillations are, so far, the only example of physics beyond the Standard Model. Such oscillations were first discovered by Super-Kamiokande in 1998 and have been confirmed by a large amount of experiments exploiting neutrinos produced by the Sun, by the Earth atmosphere, by nuclear reactors and by accelerators.
Accelerator are particularly powerful nowadays because they allow to observe oscillation of neutrinos and antineutrinos giving access to possible CP violating effects.
