Genetic landscape of cardiomyopathies – Landscardio
Cardiomyopathies are an important worldwide public health problem. Available therapies are insufficient. Chagas disease, caused by the protozoan parasite Trypanosoma cruzi, is a neglected disease affecting around 8 million people, with no effective antiparasitic drugs or vaccines. Assessment of rare variants with whole exome sequencing (WES) has disclosed rare heterozygous pathogenic variants in mitochondrial and inflammatory genes associated to CCC cases.
Genetic traits required by bacterial phytopathogens for plant infection and fitness in non agricultural habitats using high-throughput transposon sequencing (Tn-seq) – TNPHYTO
Bacteria of plant pathogenic species can be isolated from various environments such as soil, water or healthy wild plants. We propose to work on strains of phytopathogenic bacteria isolated from the environment to identify the genetic determinants enabling their growth and survival in plants but also in an environmental substrate, river water, a major vector of dissemination.
Genome-wide mapping of G4-ligand binding sites at single-base resolution – NEMESES
Development of chemical biology tools to unlock G-quadruplex DNA secondary structure functions in DNA biology. This project aims to finally unveil G-quadruplex formation and accessibility during the different phases of the cell cycle and their role in regulating replication, transcription, translation, and DNA repair.
Genomic factors underlying the effect of Respiratory Viruses and Allergens in Asthma – NIRVANA
Asthma is a frequent disabling chronic respiratory disease associated with high global costs. For two environmental factors, respiratory allergens and respiratory viruses, strong association with asthma incidence or exacerbations is well documented. A few previous observations suggest that the host genotype plays an important role in the immune response of individual allergens and rhinovirus, but these studies were limited in the assessment of allergen-specific and RV-specific immune responses.
Genomics of invasion of the ladybug Harmonia axyridis – GANDHI
The ladybug Harmonia axyridis, an emblematic insect species to study color polymorphism, has emerged as a model species to study biological invasions. We will use complementary approaches (cf. modelling, statistical methods, genomics, experimental and functional analyses) to characterize the molecular footprints of adaptations that promoted the successful worldwide invasion of this species.
Geographical and temporal serological investigation of companion animal infection with SARS-CoV-2 during the second wave of COVID-19 in France – CoVet
will be carried out between 2020 November to June 2021 and is expected to obtain approximatively 6500 samples
Geothermal resources of crustal-scale fault zones: exploring new systems for competitive geothermal power production – GERESFAULT
Crustal fault zones (CFZ) correspond to permeability anomalies of crustal rocks. Instead of looking for temperature anomalies and artificially enhance the rock permeability, this project is focused on anomalously high permeability zones, where deep hot fluids naturally rise up to the subsurface. With a multidisciplinary approach on the Pontgibaud CFZ (Massif Central), the understanding of this hydrothermal system will be applied to european CFZ.
Getting the record from the disc: A study of the Milky Way disc with WEAVE and Gaia – MWDisc
The Milky Way is a test-bed to study in details the mechanisms that shape galaxies. The synergy between Gaia and WEAVE gives access, for the 1st time, to more than 30 tracers of the past of our Galaxy for a 10^6 stars of the Solar neighborhood, and to a dozen of tracers for another 2 million stars outside of it. Our project concerns the study of the Galactic disc, a structure that encodes both internal and external mechanisms that come into play in the chemo-dynamical evolution of our Galaxy.
Glacial--Interglacial variations of the carbon cycle induced by climatic changes in Himalaya – GI-NOAH
This project aims to clarify the climate sensitivity of the Earth system by recording the carbon burial (organic and inorganic) linked to the erosion of the Himalaya at the glacial-interglacial scale. We will apply mineralogical and geochemical studies on the active levee (0-100 ka) as well as the other quaternary levees cored by IODP Exp. 354 in the Bay of Bengal.
