Testing the Ménage à Trois Hypothesis – MATHTEST
It was recently proposed that metabolic integration of the plastid into its eukaryotic host required the assistance of third partner, a now extinct chlamydia-like intracellular pathogen. The latter would have left its mark in the form of lateral transfers of genes encoding enzymes in particular metabolic pathways. In the MATHTEST project, we proposed to elucidate this imprint and the evolutionary history of vitamin K metabolism in cyanobacteria and eukaryotic algae.
uORF-mediated post-transcriptional control of stem cell niche activity in plants – ReinitiaTOR
Target of Rapamycin (TOR) functions as a central hub to link a wide range of external stimuli to protein production. In plants, protein production is limited by upstream open reading frames (uORFs) located within the 5’UTRs of about 30% of eukaryotic mRNAs. The mechanism of uORF-mediated suppression of translation and reinitiation factors that mediate uORF inhibitory potential are not yet clear.
Origin and function of the pituitary generator of GH pulses – GH-Gen
The project addresses a critical function in humans and all vertebrates: how are build-up the pulsatile secretion of GH that regulates body growth and metabolism? Our working hypothesis is that the functional network organisation of pituitary GH-secreting somatotrophs decodes fast hypothalamic GHRH inputs in order to transmit this information as slowly-evolving waves of calcium oscillations which leads to circhoral GH pulses into the bloodstream
French episcopal acta of the Middle Ages: a multi-media edition and analysis – ACTEPI
ACTÉPI deals with the episcopal acta in Northern France from the middle of the 11th to the middle of the 13th century.
HYDrothermal sIntering : a Low temperature process for the densIfication of Ceramics – HYDILIC
Development of a low-cost, environmentally friendly, and efficient low-temperature sintering technology to overcome the current technological .bottlenecks encountered in the densification of high-performance ceramics.
Evolutionary Ecology of fossil anthropoid primates in Southeast Asia – EVEPRIMASIA
Better understanding the evolutionary history of the anthropoid primates in Southeast Asia through the fossil record of the Central Basin of Myanmar
High Optical Resolution for Unlabelled Samples – HORUS
High Optical Resolution for Unlebelled Samples
Understanding and improving trust in scientific truths: an experimental approach – TrustSciTruths
We are conducting controlled experiments to identify the determinants of trust in scientific experts and processes. A 1st line of research focuses on the effectiveness and perception of algorithms used to recruit workers. A 2nd axis studies the impact of an adviser's gender and expert status on recommendation follow-up. A 3rd axis looks at whether the fact that the conclusion of a reasoning is pleasant affects the ability to reason.
Flaviviral transmission enhancer in mosquito saliva – VirSalivaEnhancer
Pathogenic flaviviruses of global importance such as dengue (DENV), Zika (ZIKV) and yellow fever (YFV) viruses are transmitted through a mosquito bite. Mosquito saliva contains viruses that initiate skin infection before spreading to the rest of the body. Understanding the factors that determine skin infection will lead to new strategies to block transmission.
