Straightforward access to enantiopure NHC-Transition Metal Complexes: New opportunities for asymmetric catalysis – cResolu
From achiral NHC ligands to enantiopure NHC-Transition Metal Complexes: New opportunities for asymmetric catalysis
Role of the MICU1-MCU interaction in the Mitochondrial Ca2+ Regulation during ischemia-reperfusion injury – MitoCaRe
Myocardial infarction remains a frequent and disabling disease with still no therapeutic strategy to mitigate the risk of developing heart failure. The mitochondrial Ca2+ uniporter represents the key structure which controls Ca2+ entry inside mitochondria, and therefore a relevant target upstream of the mitochondrial Ca2+ overload to modulate not only cell death but also mitochondrial bioenergetics and Ca2+ homeostasis.
Algorithms for Multi-Dimensional Data via Sketches – ADDS
Massive data presents particularly vexing challenges for algorithmic processing: not only are most of the commonly encountered problems NP-hard, one cannot afford to spend too much running time or space. Even worse, for approximation algorithms, the dependency on the dimension is often exponential. Overcoming these challenges require the development of a new generation of algorithms and techniques.
Remote functionalization of molecules with supramolecular catalysis – REMOTCAT
The functionalization of C-H bonds constitutes an important research direction because these bonds are abundant and it is possible to achieve molecular complexity by reducing costs and waste. However, the objective of achieving a particular selectivity in the presence of several C-H bonds is a major challenge because the associated energy to distinguish these bonds is very similar, as is the case for pyridines, molecules sought by pharmaceuticals.

Atlas of the Balkan Linguistic Area – ABLA
When contact-induced change and borrowing become systematic across a number of languages and persist over time, language clusters are found containing languages which, although not genetically related, have become more similar. The areas in which such languages are spoken are referred to as “Sprachbund,” “convergence area,” and “linguistic area” (Trubetzkoy, 1928). The most well-known linguistic area is the Balkans.
IntEgrated verticAl Modulator onto VCSEL for ultra high speed optical interconnects – EAM-VCSEL
The goal of the EAM-VCSEL project is to develop a cost- and energy-effective laser-source technology for short range Tb/s optical data communication links by extending the high-speed capability of VCSELs to beyond what is possible using direct current modulation.

Subsea Water Isotope Sensors: A novel tool for continuous and in-situ analysis – SWIS
The isotopic composition of seawater represents an important fingerprint of water masses, containing information about conditions during their formation and evolution. Following at high resolution its spatial and temporal variability in the ocean would allow to discriminate between different water sources. This project proposes to design and construct a new instrument relying on our recent patent able to provide water isotope mapping at very fine spatial and temporal resolution in the ocean.
Hydrothermal transformation of cellulosic substrates assisted by photocatalysis – PHOTHER
The objective is to replace petroleum resources with biomass to generate energy and/or manufacture platform molecules to synthesize drugs, plastics, etc. by developing a less energy-consuming concept, and new, more efficient and less expensive materials.
