Deciphering the mechanisms involved in the hyperaccumulation of alkaline earth metals by cyanobacteria – HARLEY
By coupling biochemistry, genetics and microscopy, we intend to identify the molecular actors and mechanisms involved in the formation of intracellular calcium carbonates by some cyanobacteria. This biomineralization process is particularly interesting since it results in a massive intracellular accumulation of earth alkaline elements and offers promising perspectives for remediating pollutions by some radioactives pollutants
Deciphering the molecular switch of seed desiccation tolerance to improve plant stress tolerance – DEswitch
Drought has challenged food security, urging the development of drought-tolerant crops. Crops do not withstand severe drought at the vegetative stage, but produce desiccation tolerance (DT) seeds. The ability to tolerate extreme dehydration is being switched on during seed maturation and off shortly after germination. While efforts have focused on the nature of the protective compounds conferring DT, mechanisms that regulate their accumulation during seed development are poorly understood.

Deciphering tolerance breakdown in a human B-cell mediated autoimmune disease – Autoimmuni-B
Which deregulation occurs in human autoimmune diseases and what is the dynamic contribution of each subset of B cells in this process is the central question of this proposal. We will take advantage of a unique model, the antibody-mediated autoimmune disease immune thrombocytopenia (ITP), in which different disease treatments and outcomes delineate distinct pathogenic effector subsets and for which splenectomy allows the study of tolerance breakdown during an immune response in a lymphoid organ.
Decision system for smart management of resources in warehouses – AGIRE
The project AGIRE addresses the human resources management in warehouses which supply either sale points (B2B) or final consumers (B2C). Such warehouses are under pressure due to the no inventory policy at the sale points and to the constant growth of e-commerce sales. In terms of logistics, this translates into an increasing number of parcels to prepare and to ship to satisfy an order, which is known typically a few hours in advance.
Decoding and monitoring operators’ cognitive states – BLADE
With autonomous vehicles and automated aircraft, humans interact with increasingly autonomous systems. But how can we ensure that these interactions remain safe, efficient, and adapted to human abilities? This project aims to better understand the cognitive states involved in interactions with automated systems, in order to design technologies that enable safer and more optimal interactions.
Deep Learning for Constraint Optimization – DELCO
This project aims at building on recent progress in game playing and deep reinforcement learning to design a new generation of more general constraint satisfaction and optimization solvers.
Deep Learning for Physical Processes with applications to Earth System Science – DL4CLIM
The project targets the development of Deep Learning (DL) methods for the modeling of physical processes. The application domain is environment and climate.
