Evolution of extreme sea levels in the context of climate change – ClimEx
Characterization and understanding of changes
Aerosol - Cloud interactions in contrasted Marine Environments – ACME
Significant gaps exist in our current understanding of aerosol-cloud interactions which are reflected in the uncertainties in weather forecasts and climate projections. One key aspect that is poorly understood is the role of the ice phase and the aerosol particles on which atmospheric ice crystals form, especially in mixed-phase clouds. Whether a cloud is composed of water or ice strongly influences cloud properties: lifecycle, precipitation formation and radiative energy balance.
Investigating large scale bioreactor effects in microbial application – ScaleApp
Industrial production in large-scale bioreactors is state-of-the-art. However bioprocess conditions in large reactors are heterogenous in different regions of the reactor. Imperfect mixing and limited oxygen cause parameter gradients and performance loss during scale-up from laboratory to production. Conventional approaches rely on estimates. The ScaleApp project aims to make scale-up more predictive using advanced methods and devices such as sensor technology, scale-down bioreactors and CFD.
PhotobiofilmExplorer – PhotobiofilmExplorer
It is crucial to identify new drugs to deal with pathogens that are resistant to current antibiotics. Most of the microalgae species cultivated in biofilms by the start-up Inalve are capable of forming biofilms that are highly resistant to biological contamination thanks to the synthesis of allelopathic compounds. <br />The objective of the project is to characterise and produce these new bio-compounds that can be used for human and animal health.
Tribological reliability of amorphous metallic alloys – TriboRAMA
Tribological reliability of Bulk Metallic Glasses
Shaping inequalities or building social bonds? Ceremonial economy under and after socialism in Central Asia (1960s-2020s) – CEREMONIAC
The Ceremoniac project aims to analyse and understand the rationales behind the inflation of ceremonial expenditure in Central Asian societies from the end of the Soviet period until today. It aims at questioning the production or reinforcement of inequalities, generated by these practices while they remain powerful vectors of social cohesion.
Dynamic Versatile Semantics – DYVERSE
The objective of DyVerSe is to provide better tools for a dynamic description of programs. This representation must handle rich combinations of computational effects: higher-order, shared memory concurrency, probabilistic choice, etc. It must also allow us to link earlier semantic development for specific effects, which have until now remained separate.

Effect of anthropogenic stress on larval recruitment in coral reef fish – Manini
