The objectives of the project is to develop a microfluidic platform in a compatible format for external end users. The targeted users are pharmaceutical compagnies. <br /> The intermediate goals are <br />-The selection of a material suitable for the biochip fabrication allowing cell biology and mass production for its fabrication<br />-The optimisation of the design of the platform for mass production and easy handling<br />- The beta testing of the product by industrial partners

The laboratory of biomechanics and bioengineering has developed microfluidic biochips that allow cell culture in a dynamic micro environment. Laboratory studies have demonstrated functional activity of liver tissue in culture conditions. Subsequently these biochips have been parallelized to increase analytical capacity. However the current format remains a laboratory prototype that is difficult to transfer to industries. As part of this project, we would like to optimize and develop a new design housing the biochips in order to allow automation of cultures and analyzes. For that purposes, we want to work on new materials to solve technical problems such as adsorption phenomena of molecules and tissue oxygenation. On the other hand we want to optimize the manufacturing protocol to reduce costs by obtaining monolithic devices of parallelized biochips. The final goal is to build a functional tool easy to use and to handle for industries. In addition, we would like to set up a network of industrial partners that could interfere during the developments and that will be able to test the new biochips set up. In this project, we will be helped by the valorization department of the University of Technology of Compiegne.
