Specific Support for Research Works and Innovation Defence (ASTRID)
The French national research agency (ANR) launches in partnership with the French defence procurement agency (DGA), the 2012 programme ASTRID "specific support scheme for research works and innovation defence." This programme is entirely funded by the DGA and is housed at ANR which ensures its implementation.
ASTRID is positioning itself as a dedicated programme to support research projects with a highly exploratory and innovative nature and a maximum of € 300k funding, lasting less than 36 months. Applications of these research works are dual-use (both civilian and military).
This call for proposals aims to:
- Stimulate the opening of new research areas and maintain the innovation effort on topics of defence interest in line with the guidelines posted on the POS, the DGA basic research policy.
- Explore scientific and technical sticking points by promoting skills development and identification of technological breakthroughs, source of innovation beneficial to defence and civilian research and industry.
It is expected that the follow-up in these projects can be undertaken within the framework of other calls for thematic ANR projects or other funding mechanisms such as PEA (DGA upstream studies programmes).
The transversal nature of the programme ASTRID refers to the 9 thematic areas: - Information Engineering and Robotics - Fluids, Structures - Acoustic and radioelectric waves - Nanotechnology - Photonics - Materials, chemistry and energy - Biology and Biotechnology - Men and Systems - Environment and Geosciences
The administrative and financial document must be signed by all partners, scanned in PDF format and uploaded imperatively to the submission website before 29 March 2012 at 13h00 Paris time.
