FLAG-ERA Joint Transnational Call 2017

FLAG-ERA (the Flagship ERA-NET) gathers National and Regional Funding Organisations (NRFOs) in Europe and beyond with the goal of supporting, together with the European Commission, the FET Flagship initiatives, i.e., the Graphene Flagship and the Human Brain Project (HBP) Flagship. One of its main aims is to set up and launch dedicated transnational calls to complement the Flagships. 

The FLAG-ERA Joint Transnational Call (JTC) 2017 is the second call launched in this framework. It gathers 19 funding organisations from 17 European countries (BE, BG, DE, ES, FR, GR, HU, IT, LT, LV, NL, PL, RO, SE, SI, SK and TR). The call is subdivided in three sub-calls, one for basic research in connection with the Graphene Flagship, one for applied research and innovation in connection with the same Flagship, and one for basic and applied research in connection with the Human Brain Project. ANR participates in all three sub-calls but some other funding organisations participate in only some of them. The list of funding organisations participating in each sub-call is given in the call announcement available on the FLAG-ERA web site mentioned below.

Eligibility criteria on the consortium composition are described in the call announcement. In particular:

• Partners who are core members of a Flagship can request funding as any other partner.
• Partners who are not eligible for funding in the call but are willing to contribute to the proposed project using other funding sources may be part of a consortium.
• A consortium can comprise partners funded in the framework of the call in only two countries if a partner from a third country is funded by the Flagship core project. If not, a consortium must comprise partners funded in the framework of the call in at least three countries.

A two-step submission procedure applies. In the first step, the partners prepare two documents describing the proposed project itself as well as the foreseen collaboration in the framework of the Flagship and submit them via the online submission system of FLAG-ERA. The coordinators of the selected pre-proposals will be invited to submit a full proposal in July 2017 (the exact date will be provided with the outcome of this first step).

For projects selected for funding, each partner of the consortium will be funded directly by its respective national funding organisation. Therefore, national regulations apply.
