ERA4Health 2026 - Understanding and Preventing Overweight and Obesity - PREVENT-OO Mechanisms of their onset and progression, neglected determinants and novel strategies for critical transitional periods in life

The French Research Agency is participating in the Joint Transnational Call “PREVENT-OO” launched under the umbrella of the Partnership ERA4Health (“Fostering a European Research Area for Health”). The call will fund research that improves the understanding of the causes for obesity, overweight and associated complications by using a mechanistic/experimental approach, as well as studies that employ public health strategies to prevent the onset and progression of overweight and obesity in transitional periods of life.

The French National Research Agency, in collaboration with 19 countries is launching a new international call for projects under the umbrella of the Partnership ERA4Health (“Fostering a European Research Area for Health”). The total budget for this action is about 19 million euros.

The aim of this call is to enable scientists in different countries to build a valuable collaboration based on complementarities and sharing of expertise on interdisciplinary research projects on overweight and obesity.

The proposals are expected to improve the understanding of the causes for overweight, obesity and related complications or to focus on the development of public health strategies for the prevention of obesity and overweight during critical transitional periods of life, caused by either biological or socio-environmental changes.
