Laboratory innovation- assisted procreation -veterinary – LIPAV

Submission summary

Innovation in farming community is a motor allowing to both improve the performance and decrease costs but it is also a necessity to adapt agriculture to the new environmental challenges and the upcoming global climate change. Cattle farm is also concerned by these changes and innovation is required for cattle farming adaptation. In the framework of a constant improvement of breeding practices, IMV-Technologies company and the research team GETI would like to settle a common laboratory focused in the improvement of assisted reproduction technologies (ART) dedicated to bovine market. This common laboratory will aim to develop an “in vitro fertilization plateform” allowing to develop new know-how and new available drugs for the breeding market. The research team “Genetic, Epigenetic and therapy of infertility – GETI” university Grenoble Alpes, INSERM, CNRS develops research projects focused on sperm physiology, male infertility and new therapeutic strategies dedicated to treat human infertility. The team develops new and original drugs allowing modulating sperm physiology in order to improve and maintain sperm fertility. In the framework of these tasks, the research team GETI has specific technical and scientific expertise in assisted reproduction technologies for different animal models like mouse, bovine or non human primate. IMV-Technologies company, world leader in the market of biotechnologies dedicated to animal reproduction, developed also a unique expertise in sperm freezing and propose a full range of products from plastic wares necessary for the freezing straw, freezing robot, to biological media allowing sperm survival. Moreover, a specific effort is made by IMV-TECHNOLOGIES in R&D to continually propose improved sperm media. IMV-TECHNOLOGIES and the research team GETI have already successfully worked together and would like to write their cooperation on the long-term basis. The pooling and sharing of know-how and techniques in the bovine ART from both partners, will allow a unique synergy to promote by IMV the innovations obtained by the common research. This cooperation should bring to the introduction of new improved sperm media containing profertility drugs developed by the team GETI. The strong complementarily of IMV-TECHNOLOGIES and the research team GETI on all stages of innovations including the identification of new compounds of interest, their in-vitro validation (preclinical tests), their test in field (clinical validation), their production and finally their introduction to the market and their distribution in the breeding farms, should allow to improve the quality of innovation and reduce the time to market and the cost of development.
