Advanced fail-safe devices and power electronic circuits for critical applications. – FAST-STEP
The reliability of electrical system for power conversion is a forefront challenge for the coming years. In the hearth of this topic, it appears that power electronic converters are involved to provide an increasing role in critical applications (manufacturing, automotive, avionic, nuclear). It is known that power devices are weak components due to their physical composition and the applied stresses : all failure is a critical event causing the unavailability of the application. To rise this challenge, researcher from Lab. Laplace are recently patented an invention that concerns an original fail-safe and fault-tolerant conversion system. A TRL3/4 prototype was realized and successfully validated in lab. A low cost, high reliability and high integrated capability converters can be put forward. Our target is the realization of five pre-industrial prototypes TRL6 at the end of the project to be in position to promote and finally sell licenses of the patent.
