Integrated optical control for power semiconductors and energy converters – SiPowLight
The multidisciplinary research presented in this project, based on design, physics of semiconductors, optics, digital communication techniques and silicon material. Advancing the frontiers between these fields is the only way to demonstrate a ground breaking research,in the view of adressing important issues such as energy conservation and electromagnetic interferences. This research proposal will provide major impovements in monolithic and hybrid integrations through the study and the analysis of electrical, optical and thermal interactions, and novel components for power converters and intelligent systems. The aim of this project is to demonstrate theoretically and experimentally why we have to integrate a set of active functions within high power transistors on silicon, enabling several improvements in their implementation, as well as functionalities and performances, developing the generic aspects of semiconductors and power converters.
