Interfacing Nano–objects for Functional Electronic and Optofluidic Systems – INOFEO
Orienting functional nano-objects and addressing them in a well-defined geometry has proved to be an extremely
difficult task. INOFEO aims at using nanocontainers, zeolites L, as interfacing tool to the external word. The zeolites
possessing 1D nanoscale channels, filled with molecules, or chemically functionalized, provide an unprecedented
level of control for interfacing molecules and nano-objects. The entire nanocontainers will be organized and
manipulated in both static and dynamic configurations. The project has 3 main objectives that combine the
nanocontainers and the properties of the molecules entrapped in their channels to achieve control of spatial
distribution, orientation and manipulation of the nanocontainers.
As a result of INOFEO we envisage tunable optical systems, functional assemblies and fascinating new strategies for
controllable interactions between soft and hard materials.
