Reduced Emission Cement:Cradle to Grave Material Applications and Accounting – G8 - REO KILN
After water, concrete is the largest global commodity, and a key to development. The production of cement, the binding agent in concrete, releases 8% of global CO2 emissions, with some re-use as fill.
Structural and functional elucidation of the poxvirus genome replication process – REPLIPOX
The aim of this project is two-fold: To establish clearly the poxvirus replication mechanism and to provide high-resolution structures of the key players in this process: the DNA polymerase holoenzyme and the helicase-primase. This work will give insight into the poxvirus DNA replication, which shows a different organisation than previously described ones. On the long run the structural information will provide a breakthrough in the structure-based design of new drugs against orthopoxviruses.
Assessment of individual exposure to engineered nanomaterials by means of personal monitors and samplers – nanoIndEx
nanoIndEx will determine personal exposure to MNMs and thoroughly investigate the possibilities of personal monitors and samplers. Those samplers and monitors, identified as suitable for assessing per
Vulnerability and adaptability of the last population of the European Sturgeon (Acipenser sturio) to environmental stress factors : temperature, oxygen, pollutants. – SturTOP
The European sturgeon (Acipenser sturio) is the most endangered migratory diadromous fish in Europe. The Garonne-Dordogne basin is host to the last population of this species. Pollution and global war
Fate of engineered nanoparticles in the water column under natural conditions. Role of the heteroaggregation with naturally occurring suspended matter – NANOHETER
As part of the risk assessment of nanotechnology, this project deals with the exposure aspect of engineered nanoparticles (ENPs), focusing on their fate in surface water. Based on the trace concentrat
Synergistic and toxic cocktail effects of low dose endocrine disruptors – TOXSYN
Most current knowledge of endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDC) action is derived from data sets that use single molecule exposure, with few studies taking into account the more realistic situation whe
Impacts of chronic intoxication by Bt k bioinsecticides on the intestinal homeostasis and the immune response: from insects to mammals – ImBio
Cry toxins produced by Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) are becoming widely used worldwide as bioinsecticides or in genetically modified crops (GMC) to fight lepidopteran, coleopteran and dipteran pests in
Role of autophagy in the respiratory effects of nanoparticles – Nanautophagie
Although great advancements, including in the medical field, can be predicted thanks to the development of nanotechnologies, concerns are growing because of the potential effects of manufactured nanop
