Climate change: services being developed to evaluate the climate and prepare for adaptation. ERA4CS ERA-NET projects
How can we take the growing risk of forest fires into account in the management of wooded areas, or floods in coastal areas? How can we adapt cities to deal with heatwaves or anticipate the impact of climate risks on electricity generation to guarantee the balance between supply and demand? Climate services are emerging in response to the need for institutions, businesses and citizens to be able to draw on relevant information, tools and methods. These services enable the evaluation of the climate and the comprehension of the climate change impact on socioeconomic activities and on the environment. To support the research into the development of these services, the partners of the ERA-NET ERA4CS, coordinated by the French National Research Agency (ANR), launched a call for proposals in 2017. Here we review several results among the 26 funded projects following the reporting symposium organised in late September 2021.
Fighting against antimicrobial resistance: join the webinar presenting the 2022 call for projects launched under the umbrella of the JPIAMR
The JPIAMR launched on January, 11th, 2022 a new call for projects entitled “Disrupting drug Resistance using Innovative Design”. A webinar presenting the call will be organized on January 25th (16h-17h30 CET) to inform the French and international scientific community.
Risks posed by pollutants and pathogens present in the water resources: the 18 funded projects of the AquaticPollutants call
There are major risks associated with the occurrence of emerging contaminants, pathogens and antimicrobial resistant bacteria in our water bodies and oceans. To face these challenges in a comprehensive way and to develop multidisciplinary and practical solutions for the provision of safe drinking water and healthy aquatic environments, a joint transnational call has been launched by the three Joint Programming Initiatives (JPIs) on Water, Oceans and Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR), which includes the French National Research Agency (ANR).
Global security: 14th edition of WISG, held online on 25 and 26 January 2022
An unmissable event for everyone involved in global security research, WISG brings together nearly 250 participants in public and private research for each edition to review recent scientific progress, exchange views and create synergies and new partnerships. Discover the global security research projects funded or co-funded by the French National Research Agency (ANR) and its partners, find out about the specific calls and initiatives and meet the active players in the field at the 14th WISG, taking place online on 25 and 26 January 2022. Entry is free on registration.
