Transformations to sustainability: a multilateral Joint Call for Proposals soon to be launched
ANR is associated to a new funding programme “Transformations to sustainability” (T2S) initiated by the Belmont Forum and NORFACE network. On this occasion, a call for proposals including funding agencies of 14 countries will be launched in December. The aim of the call is to encourage international and transdisciplinary projects on the topic of transformations to sustainability.
Trait combination patterns in reef fish communities across the world’s oceans
In the framework of BiodivScen, the 2017-2018 BiodivERsA – Belmont Forum Joint Action on Scenarios of biodiversity and ecosystem services, 21 research projects were selected for funding, based on their scientific excellence, their involvement of relevant stakeholders and their promising societal impact. The REEF-FUTURES project, funded under BiodivScen and developing scenarios of the impacts of the implementation of Marine Protected Areas on coral reefs services, published new results in the Proceedings of National Academy of Sciences review in March 2021.
Toward a better understanding of the origins of life on earth
The Philae robot lander is currently exploring the Churyumov-Gerasimenko comet. On board the spacecraft is the COSAC device, whose mission is to analyze the chemistry of certain organic compounds in the comet’s core – compounds that may help to unlock the secrets of how life began on earth. This device and the analyses it will be carrying out are related to research being carried out in connection with the CHIRGEN project, a Franco-Mexican undertaking that since 2012 has been jointly funded by the French National Research Agency and Mexico’s Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología (National Council of Science and Technology) (CONACYT).
To mark International Women's Day 2019, we focus on the careers of women researchers
Committed to contributing to the implementation of a policy to reduce inequalities between women and men in higher education and research, the French National Research Agency (ANR) takes part in International Women's Day, celebrated on 8 March on the initiative of the UNO. The theme this year is “Better the balance, better the world #BalanceforBetter”.
